DV3X2 Internship
Overview
During this week long internship, I visited three different interior design and architecture firms, and shadowed them to learn more about what it's like to be an interior designer or an architect. This internship program is designed for high school students with an interest in architecture and interior design and is organized by AIA Austin. Selection for the internship required an application and acceptance. I spent approximately 15 hours for one week at this internship.
Gensler

The first firm I visited was Gensler. This firm gave me the perspective of what it would be like to work in a large corporate interior design firm.
Casabella
Casa Bella is a smaller interior design and architecture firm. There I got to see some of the projects they have worked on and got the perspective of what it would be like to work in a smaller firm.
Furman & Keil
Furman and Keil is an architecture firm that focuses both on residential and commercial projects. We got to visit the site of one the projects they were currently working on. This gave me the opportunity to view a design come to life.
Page & Austin Central Library
On the last day of our internship we visited Page which is an architecture firm. There we each presented what we learned and the perspective we gained through this experience. Then we got to tour the Austin Central Library and learn about the specific architecture and materials used in the making of this newly built library.
