Hero Cycle Project
- Communicates with few errors in Standard English conventions that do not impact readability. Varies sentence and word choice, consistently applies appropriate conventions and style/tone, and cites sources consistently and appropriately. Organizes ideas, reasons, and evidence in a logical sequence to develop a central idea.
- Uses varied transitions within and across paragraphs to link major sections of the text and create cohesion. Shows clear relationships among ideas, reasons, and evidence. Introduces and develops a clear, precise, and complex thesis through an explanation of significant and relevant details, extended definitions, and examples from sources.
Description:
This project was to read a text from a country other than the United Sates, or England, and to follow it's hero cycle. I chose to read the Alchemist, which is about a boy following his personal legend. Then we were to watch a movie and follow it's hero cycle, i watched Spiderman (2002). Then we compared the two texts and how they follow the hero cycle.
Pillar:
This project goes under the pillar Investigate the World because we analyzed text from another country, and followed its hero cycle. This project allowed us to analyze the impact of authors choices because we learned that some of the greatest stories follow the hero cycle.
Reflection:
This project helped me learn about the world because the book I read was set in another part of the world than where I live. I was able to learn about what might happen if some one traveled in this part of the world. This book also talked about certain parts of the culture of where it was set.
