In Spanish III my sophomore year, we wrote an essay in which each student took a stance on whether they were for or against immigration in the United States. We did research on the topic in class by hearing our own teacher’s story about how she immigrated to America, videos about immigrants, and articles about the topic. Also in class, we looked at how immigration is dealt with in different governments across the globe. I wrote my essay about how I believed that immigration was beneficial to America, because it is good for the economy and increases diversity. I used examples from Forbes magazine, examples from my own experiences, and observed examples from living in Texas, an area with lots of immigrants.
