Description:
This project was about taking an item that you would normally throw away when you are done using it, but instead turning it into something useful. Each person was assigned a certain material, mine was glass. I chose to take old light bulbs and turn it into a spice holder. I achieved this by finding and cutting some scrap wood. Then I found some light bulbs, and disembled them. I then proceeded to attach a magnet to the wood and the other to the bulb so you you could easily attach and detach the bulb. I now was able to buy in some spices, and close it with a cork. After we created our piece we had an auction where people could bid on each item, and all the money went to the AGS scholarships.
Pillar:
I chose to put this project under the pillar, Take Action because this project didn't just teach us about recycling and making something old new again. We were able to take action by creating something unique and useful. This project has made me be able to asses options and plan action because i had to brainstorm ideas and then once I chose what I would be making i had to plan out how I was going to do it.
Reflection:
This project helped me learn about the world because many people will just throw something away when you could use for another use. This has caused a huge pollution issue which has also led to many other environmental issues. Even if something is not in condition to be reused you can always recycle it which is better than it going to a landfill where it is contributing to the pollution issue.
